    What the press says

"The lithium iron phosphate battery actually becomes a grid asset. You charge the stove when electricity is cheapest, avoiding usage during peak load times."

    Diana Olick, CNBC

"California is joining New York and Boston to spur a market for affordable electric heat pumps and induction stoves to decarbonize housing."

    Todd Woody, Bloomberg

"This could be the holy grail of induction, as far as I’m concerned."

Rachel Wharton, Wirecutter, The New York Times

"Using battery-equipped stoves as distributed storage networks that lessen needs for gas-fired peaker plants during high demand."

    Ben German, Axios

"New stove that plugs into a normal wall outlet could be major gain for health and the climate"

    Isabella O'Malley, The Associated Press

"I like that it has a soft, natural look even though it's a high-tech item."

    Lisa McManus, America's Test Kitchen

"Berkeley-based Copper was selected to supply 10,000 stoves to the New York City Housing Authority."

    Emily Pontecorvo, Heatmap

"Take the knobs on the induction range from Copper. Made of walnut, they let cooks know, without looking, the level of heat they’ve set a burner to."

Christopher Mims, The Wall Street Journal

"Both the convection oven and the cooktop have better temperature control than the gas alternative."

    Adele Peters, Fast Company

"A good example of how clean tech is coming to our homes in a meaningful way."

    Adam Clark Estes, Vox

"[Charlie] draws on the trickle of electricity from a 120-volt outlet to charge its own battery, allowing it to provide the bursts of power needed for cooking even without a 240-volt socket."

    Alison F. Takemura, Canary Media

"A wiring retrofit can add even more costs to an already expensive switch to induction, which is what makes battery powered induction an intriguing option."

    Lana Melonakos-Harrison, Fine Homebuilding

"A homeowner’s next big kitchen cooking upgrade."

    Cheryl Winokur Munk, CNBC

    Now you can

    Plug & play

In the past, upgrading to induction required running wires to your kitchen for a 240 volt outlet, and in most cases adding new wires from the street for the additional power.

It was almost always complex and costly.

But things are easier now. Charlie plugs into the normal outlet that's already behind your stove.
